Airton das Neves had several jobs before turning to art in 2002. His work was immediately accepted by the art market, and he has been working as an artist ever since.
Despite his poor childhood, Airton remembers the annual trips to his grandparents' farm with a sense of enchantment. As he grew, and became more financially secure, he traveled to many other places, getting to know different cultures and people. Those experiences are kept in a rich memory box, and their images have a special role in his work.
Images of beautiful beaches or villages, fishermen or rural workers, the big metropolis and their daily madness, the beauty in the details of the architecture of historic colonial cities, these are the images that inspire Airton's creations. He is proud of his regional origins…the amazement of being Brazilian, of living in a country with such a wonderful diversity of landscapes and with a unique ethnic and cultural richness.
According to the art critic Oscar D'ambrosio: The love for detail is not merely a search for technical perfection, but a resource of style that generates a sincere poetry, crystallized with talent, with full images of small narratives which compose a total of great expressiveness!
According to the art dealer Jacques Ardies: Airton has a gift for drawing and an incredible talent, as well as a previously unseen way of mixing colors!
